THE TRUE NATURE

Once, there was a ruthless lion in the jungle. It would eat every animal and destroy every crop that came in its way. Because of that, the jungle and the nearby villages were suffering and the food cycle was being affected. The jungle was about to be destroyed.

One day, a teacher who lived in the nearby village decided to do something after seeing this bad behaviour and the destruction the lion showed. He took a fake goat and kept it in a cage. When the lion saw it, it didn’t think one second and just jumped into the cage to kill it... only to realise that it was fooled.

After this, everyone said that he should kill it. But he didn’t. He first left it hungry for two days. The lion was getting hungry. But just when it was about to die of hunger, he gave it a bowl full of fruits and vegetables. Although the lion never ate fruits but out of desperation, it ate the full bowl.

Post that, he would regularly give the lion food at fixed intervals, as much as it needs. Not more, not less. And once a week it would feed it some meat. He trained it and made it realise what it means to be the strongest in the jungle... and how much it should eat.

Initially, the lion was very uncomfortable with this. It would shout, roar in anger. But with patience and strictness, the man changed the lion from a ruthless beast to a good animal.

Then after 3 months of keeping it in a cage, it released it back in the jungle. But now the lion doesn’t hunt everything and everyone. It only hunts as much as required. Thus, the life in the jungle was made paradise. The jungle animals made the lion their new king.

He neither changed its nature to a vegetarian by feeding it mostly fruits and veggies, nor killed it thinking it was a threat. Just like this, to help someone you don’t need to change it. You just need to tweak it. Today’s world is not about changing it. It’s about making it better and helping it find it’s best possible self.
