Team India is currently aiming for "mission 2020". So how does Team India look after the recently concluded 5-0 victory against New Zealand ? The men in blue have been on a roll with winning against New Zealand despite injuries and absence of Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan, India blasted the kiwis including 2 super over wins back to back.
The top order is looking great with Rahul, Rohit and Virat in great nick. The bowling has also looked great with Bumrah, Shami leading the pace attack and Jadeja being Mr dependable all-rounder with both bowling and batting contribution. But the middle order, or more specifically the lower middle order needs to improve. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey have gotten a bit of form but the likes of Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar have not fired so much in the series against the kiwis. With the absence of Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni not in the picture that much, India is still looking for that stable number 6 who can give India those finishing slog overs. Manish Pandey and Shreyas Iyer have shown restraint but HP not being there, India will definitely miss him. With Rohit and Shikhar in the workshop, recovering from their injuries, Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal will replace the Indian vice-captain in the upcoming ODI and test series in New Zealand. With the IPL and T20 world cup coming up, the 2 Indian openers will be the key and everyone will be looking at them recovering and being back in top form.
The Indians will be finding a good finisher for them with a high strike rate like Hardik in the matches before the t20 world cup to have that extra option up their sleeve. And they would also want Chahal, Kuldeep to start delivering to supplement Sir Jadeja. Shivam Dube was taken to the cleaners for 32 runs in 1 over. So India will be looking to turn these stones and fill their remaining gaps to be ready to win the ICC T20 World Cup. And with Kohli leading the T20 squad for the first time on the big stage, expectations will be high
