Does a good pay package decide how good an engineer you are?

For the B.E grads of today, the best life as an engineer depends on the best job. And the best job is decided by the highest paid job. But is that all that is required to decide your worth as a programmer? Or is there something else which does make a difference?

The answer is no. A highly paid job is not important. Money can buy you a blanket but it can't get you a good sleep. It is more important to have the most suitable job for you. In the computer industry, the pay packages offered to students are very high. But students are just taking it up for that without actually seeing the post, job and their skill set. After a couple of years or maybe 6-7 years, the branch they have chosen to do their job does not interest them anymore. It is more important to choose your job based on your requirements and your strengths, so that you can be the most productive at what you do. Having a large amount at the end of each month cannot decide your happiness at the end of it. You don't have to follow a league just because of the money. By doing jobs which might not offer much today but is interesting to you is better. And you might never know, tomorrow people might shift their interests to yours and you will thank yourself for following your heart.
